This work was commissioned by the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Lower Saxony as a contribution to the EXPO 2000 world exhibition. It is transcultural and transreligious in that is combines key statements on the spiritual significance of water in different religions. The texts are sung in the original languages; Sanskrit (Rgveda), Hebrew (Old Testament), Bambara (Mali Genesis), Arabic (Koran) and Ancient Greek (New Testament). Following the première on 7 September 2000, seven performances were staged in Germany and Austria.
